Mobile Auto Bodywork & Paint Job (fixing a dent with a uni-spotter)

This paint-job was done on October 25, 2015 and it still looks great today, April 23, 2020.
The video is meant to be a teaching video that shows and explains the process of fixing a dent by means of questions and answers.
Many have asked for Gerald's contact details. But Gerald said he has more than enough work and did not want me to include any contact info when I first posted the video. Should he ever change his mind about making his contact details public, then I'll be more than happy to include them here in this description.

  • Мужик без обид. Если я тер бы шпаклю с водой, и таким факелам наносил лак, мне отец этим краскапультом дал бы по еблу.

  • I could use him right now in California! I've been quoted from 500 (by a guy who approached me in a Target parking lot) to 2400 for PDR work. Can trust any of them.

  • What do you mean he threw in the bumper as well? Don't take advantage of a guy trying to make an honest living. You better call the man an pay him extra for all the extra work you conned him into doing for little to no pay you cheap skate.

  • And he was right to mask back from the edge for primer. Primer tends to blow back in areas further than paint leaving the gray primer edge that he was taking about.

  • This guy did good for being limited on tools working in a driveway. I'd think he probably is a pretty good body man if he was working in a shop better equipped. and not on as much of a time line.

  • Not sure where this junk body worker went to school but in A-Car gold class we never used bondo. We’d cut and spot weld a new fender in nor do we use a heat gun on paint or etching primer. It’ll cause to much orange peel.

  • Older video, but glad it was posted...this guy's good. I had a guy come do my dent years ago when I lived in Tucson and all he did was spread some filler over it and then wanted to get paid...expected me to sand it and do the rest...what an idiot. I wanted to punch him in the face. Should have.

  • Dent by park bench, Scratch on lift gate from parking lot, Dings and scratches on front bumper from parking blocks... You seem to have an issue with the word "park". Anyhow,, I'm sure you'll keep Gerald in business for quite some time. 😆 Kidding aside,, Great Work. 👍

  • Wow, Gerald really rocks and obviously takes pride in his work! What was the cost for the dent in the quarter panel and/or total cost? You mentioned a fraction of the cost and that's as good, if not better than a dealer would have done. Good job with the play-by-play, as well as getting shots of products used.

    • Actually there are honest car shops around. I live in suburban-rural Colorado for 30 years and have used 2 local body shops and 4 different local mechanics, and they were all honest. Also in Santa Barbara CA, mid size city (100K?) Again, honest car shops are still out there. The Denver dealerships are thieves, like everywhere else.

I personally work as a sand blaster and painter and know the process of prep work . Hope you keep up the business

  • Wonderful job , pay him more please !

  • If the body shop was going to charge $1000+, and Gerald did this job for a “fraction” of the price then Gerald doesn’t charge enough. Excellent work, Gerald. Raise your prices. You deserve it.

  • As I looked through many of the comments, some were critical of Martin for asking so many questions and not letting Gerald just do his job. However, I see in Martin's description that he is intending for this to be a teaching video. In that case I assume that Gerald had agreed to let him film and ask the questions that he did. Great job on the car!

  • I have 25 dents in a two foot straight line in the middle of my passenger side door of a 25 year old coupe. How much would that cost? Lol

    Andre LopezAndre Lopez7 ngày trước
    • A 25 year old car is worth zero dollars, so you should do it only if you really love your car and the dents really bug you. I have a dented 2002 Chevy Tahoe that I paid only $10K for 6 years ago. It's probably worth $5K or less now. I put the dents in, and now I will live with them. Save the money for when it needs a tranny or engine work or another $800 set of tires.
